MonAI LisAI delves into the theme of the new era and the integration of Artificial Intelligence into our modern society. The widespread dissemination of Artificial Intelligence-generated creations via the internet in recent years has sparked a significant technological revolution. Many individuals harness AI for innovative projects, as well as for processing extensive data sets. One notable characteristic of AI image creation is the emergence of aesthetic similarities across images produced by the same or different artists, reminiscent of past photo stylizations. The essence of what defines an AI-generated piece as artwork, good or bad, lies within the underlying concept.

Just as with other technological advancements, such as the atomic bomb, the impact of AI can vary based on its application, carrying both positive and negative implications. It is crucial to recognise the expanding influence of AI in realms like politics, where it is increasingly utilised for deceptive purposes, such as creating misleading images and videos that blur the lines between reality and fabrication. In light of this evolving landscape, it is imperative to equip ourselves with the ability to discern between AI-generated content and reality. Some software tools are available to aid in making this distinction.

Inspired by these technological developments and assuming the persona of an internet art whistleblower, artist Michaël Borras AKA Systaime conceived the MonAI LisAI series. The series not only draws inspiration from the iconic face of Mona Lisa but also serves as a commentary on the potential for artificial intelligence to render what is unreal as seemingly genuine due to the speed in which it can create. Systaime asserts that in this era defined by artificial intelligence, it is crucial to showcase that even the most renowned visages can appear authentic in photographic form, thus challenging our perception of reality.

A digital exhibition has been accessible since May Day, and we are continuously sharing new art throughout the exhibition. Furthermore, a physical manifestation, ‘MonAI LisAI’s Home Installation,’ is set to debut on May 24th at Darling’s Attic in London. This distinctive exhibition will showcase artworks from MonAI LisAI’s private art collection. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy on-site sushis service.

A multimedia and network artist, Michaël Borras AKA “Systaime” has been dissecting the best of our digital worlds since the late 1990s. His works are distinguished by their pop, if not trashy, aesthetic, and constant technological updates linked to the new uses of the Internet and social networks, whether it’s an assiduous practice of audiovisual collage, GIF animation or the tools now offered by artificial intelligence. Systaime has distinguished himself as both artist and curator at numerous international institutions and events, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Centre national d’art et de culture Georges-Pompidou, the Caracas Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow’s Electromuseum and the Athens Digital Art Festival. – https://www.instagram.com/monailisai/https://linktr.ee/systaime
